Infant Baptism, Believer’s Baptism and Confirmation
Whether you’re bringing a child for ‘infant baptism’ or whether you’re ready to declare your own faith in a believer’s baptism or confirmation (if you were baptised as a child), we’re here to celebrate with you and support you in living out these sacred vows.
We strongly encourage parents and godparents to complete the Alpha Course before bringing their child to baptism. This is an important step in learning more and understanding the Christian faith into which your child will be baptised.
If you are interested in believer’s baptism or confirmation, we also warmly encourage you to complete Alpha before the event or to join a midweek group where you can invest in your faith.
If you are interested in finding out more about baptism or confirmation, the first step is to email us via the button link below. One of the team will then contact you, check a few details and arrange the next steps.
Weddings
A church wedding is much more than a legal contract because the vows are made before God and anticipate His blessing. Christian marriages hope to learn and embody God’s selfless, creative, faithful love towards humankind.
It is a spiritual foundation on which to build your commitment to one another and a very special opportunity for your family and friends to pray for you, perhaps to sing with you and to stand with you in God’s house, following in the footsteps of the generations who have gone before us.
And there’s still plenty of scope to make the ceremony personal and fun. The clergy will help you to plan the service and will also offer pre-marriage ‘wisdom events’, which enable you to take time out from the ‘wedmin’ and enjoy a few hours just investing in your relationship - because you’re preparing for a lifetime, not just a special day.
Funerals and Memorial Services
If you are facing the loss of a loved one, please know that we are praying for you and here to support you. One name for the Holy Spirit of God is ‘The Comforter’ and we pray that you will find that will become a real experience for you.
Funerals and memorial services are possible at each of the HeyMaldon churches. St Giles has its own churchyard, just across the road from the church, while Heybridge and Heybridge Basin residents often opt to have a service in St Andrews or St George’s followed by burial at Heybridge cemetery, or conclude at Maldon Fields Crematorium. Likewise, Maldonians living within the parish boundary may have a service at All Saints, followed by interment at the London Road Cemetery or at Maldon Fields.
Alternatively you may ask for a Christian minister simply to lead a service at Maldon Fields Crematorium. Either way, you will be supported and listened to as together we plan a service that both celebrates your loved one and allows you the space to mourn together.
We also have a dedicated team of experienced volunteers who sensitively serve those who are bereaved by administering and hosting church funerals and memorials, enabling the practicalities to go smoothly.
Beyond the service we offer support and opportunities to grieve well and remember your loved ones. Although your initial step may be to contact a local Funeral Director, do make contact with us too.
