Church for our waterside community: Growing hope and faith in every generation
St George’s is a post First World War church plant in a waterside community.
Now the church and the adjoining Community Hall provide an important ‘third space’ for the Basiners and ensures that festivals are celebrated both in the church and in the pub.
At present the small but faithful congregation meets on a Monday morning for informal worship and prayer, or Holy Communion, and a chat over a cuppa afterwards. We believe that our prayers and our community action change this beautiful corner of the world and make it even better.
Worship at St George’s
Join us at our service on Monday.
Simple Worship
Mondays, 9.30am
With the birds singing and the halyard hitting the mast outside, our Monday worship is soaked in the sounds of the village we serve. Our approach is informal but aims to hold those moments of stillness and encounter with Jesus, as well as engagement and laughter. For those who don't have to rush off, there's always time for a hot drink and a chat afterwards so friendships really grow here.
Once a month the church runs a Coffee Morning to ensure that no one in the Basin becomes isolated or alone and our members are deeply involved in village life.
We are well-supported by the Friends of St George’s who manage the Community Room and support the church with events and local initiatives. Those who join in find strong pastoral care and an active community.
